The Edmonton Oilers fired head coach Todd McLellan on Tuesday. He has been replaced by Ken Hitchcock.
This is the second coaching firing in the NHL in less than a day. Late Monday night, the St. Louis Blues fired head coach Mike Yeo.
He was replaced by Craig Berube.

In April, Hitchcock announced his retirement from coaching in the NHL. He was serving as the Dallas Stars head coach at the time of his retirement.
When he announced his retirement, it was announced that he would remain with the Stars as a consultant.
The Oilers have the third-worst record in the Pacific Division with their 9-10-1 record through 20 games. They also have 19 points.
The team has scored 58 goals but has given up 68.
Of the bottom three teams in the Pacific Division, Edmonton is the second team to fire its head coach. The Los Angeles Kings also fired John Stevens.
He was replaced by Willie Desjardins for the rest of the season.
The 51-year-old Melville, Saskatchewan, Canada native spent three-plus seasons as the Oilers’ head coach. He went 123-119-24 in 266 games in Edmonton.
McLellan is 434-282-99 in 806 games in 11 years as an NHL head coach. He also spent seven years as the San Jose Sharks head coach.
In his last season as a head coach, Hitchcock went 42-32-8 in 82 games with the Stars. He spent time as a head coach with the Stars, St. Louis Blues, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Philadelphia Flyers.

This will be the first time he coaches a Canadian team in his career. He is 823-506-88-119 in 1,536 career games.
Hitchcock won 319 games during his two tenures with the Stars.
