Panthers’ Trocheck has ankle surgery

Florida Panthers center Vincent Trocheck has undergone ankle surgery. The operation was to repair an ankle fracture.

He is out indefinitely after the surgery. However, he is expected to return to the team by the end of the season.

He suffered the injury on November 19th against the Ottawa Senators.

“Vinny is a tremendous competitor and leader for our club,” said GM Dale Tallon. “It’s never easy to see a player and person like him suffer an injury like this, but we are confident that he will make a full recovery and be back on the ice with our team this season.”

The 25-year-old Trocheck suffered significant damage to his ankle, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger. He was injured when he fell awkwardly on Monday night.

At press time, no timetable for his return has been named. However, with a fracture, it will likely be several weeks before he sees action again in a game.

He got his leg caught underneath him. The injury caused him to be stretchered off the ice.

This season, he has three goals and 11 assists for 14 points in 18 games. He also has a -4 +/- and 26 PIM.
