Gritty has only been around as the Philadelphia Flyers mascot for a few months. Yet, he may have attended his first wedding on Friday night.

With the Flyers hosting an early game on Black Friday against the New York Rangers (Flyers won 4-0), Gritty was available to make a surprise appearance that night. He likely received an appearance fee to attend the wedding.

Gritty was announced as the Flyers second mascot in team history in September. Since then, he has taken the nation— and especially the Philadelphia area — by storm.

The bride and groom were surprised when Gritty showed up. In addition, he was the bride’s first dance at the reception even though Gritty was dancing before she joined in.

According to the video, a bridesmaid joined in on the dance floor. Gritty was a surprise by Ray Grossmuller, who surprised his daughter with the mascot.

Heather Grossmuller, the bride, is a Flyers fan. She married Karl Schwemlein.
