Washington wins 2018 Apple Cup, defeats Washington State

The Washington Huskies had a tough few days. One of the buses carrying the team’s Marching Band flipped over, as it was traveling to Pullman, Washington.

There were a few members of the band in the hospital on Friday.

The Huskies gave the band and its fans a big win on Friday night, as they brought home the Apple Cup. No. 16 Washington won 28-15 against No. 8 Washington State Cougars at Martin Stadium in Pullman, Washington.

Washington improved to 9-3 on the season. They are 7-2 in conference play.

The Huskies have now won three straight games. They will also play the Utah Utes in the Pac-12 Conference Championship game on Friday at Santa Clara, California at Levi’s Stadium.

Washington State suffered its second loss, as they fell to 10-2. They are also now 7-2 within conference play.

The Cougars had their seven-game win streak snapped.

Huskies quarterback Jake Browning went 11 of 14 for 207 yards. He also had an interception.

Aaron Fuller went 1 of 1 for 22 yards, including a touchdown.

Myles Gaskin had 27 carries for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Salvon Ahmed had nine carries for 87 yards.

Hunter Bryant had three receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown. Andre Baccellia had five receptions for 89 yards. Ahmed had two receptions for 22 yards.

Cougars quarterback Gardner Minshew went 26 of 35 for 152 yards. He also had two interceptions.

James Williams had 11 carries for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Max Borghi had five carries for 20 yards.

Borghi had seven receptions for 49 yards. Williams had seven receptions for 30 yards. Calvin Jackson Jr. had four receptions for 25 yards. Kyle Sweet had three receptions for 19 yards.

Washington scored 14 points in the second half. Fuller hit Bryant for a 22-yard touchdown reception. Gaskin also scored on an 80-yard rushing touchdown.

Washington State scored eight points in the second half. Hunter Dale scored a defensive PAT conversion. Williams scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. Following the touchdown, the two-point conversion failed.

The Huskies led 14-7 at halftime. Gaskin scored on a five-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter. He also added a five-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter.

Cougars’ Williams scored on a 11-yard rushing touchdown.
