According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, newly acquired Washington Redskins linebacker Reuben Foster has been placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt list. The NFL will now review the matter.
Foster was claimed by the Redskins on Tuesday afternoon. They were the only team, who were interested in claiming in services.
Being on the Commissioner’s Exempt list, he is not allowed to practice or attend games. But he may be present at the team’s facility on a reasonable basis for meetings. Individual workouts, therapy, and rehabilitation, and other non-football-related activities.
The was released by the 49ers after being allegedly involved in a domestic violence matter in Tampa, Florida. on Saturday night. The woman and Foster were in an on-again, off-again relationship over the past several years.
The 24-year-old Auburn, Alabama native was arrested at approx. 9:10 pm at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, where the team was staying on the road. The 49ers played a game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
He was charged with one count of first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence from the incident. According to Tampa Police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor, he allegedly slapped the woman’s phone out of her hand. He also allegedly pushed her in the chest and slapped her on the left side of her face with an open hand.
The victim also allegedly had a one-inch scratch on her left collarbone.
“He was really taking some very positive steps and maturing in a really nice fashion,” general manager John Lynch told reporters before the game. “Unfortunately in life there’s consequences for your actions. When you show bad judgment, particularly after something has been communicated very clearly what the expectations are, there are consequences.”
