The Washington Redskins were the only team interested in acquiring Reuben Foster. The reigning Super Bowl champions were also interested.

The Philadelphia Eagles, according to USA Today Sports, were so interested that they reached out to the Tampa, Florida police department. It is not clear exactly what information they received from the alleged incident on Saturday night.

The Eagles were the only team, who reached out to the authorities.

The Redskins claimed Foster off waivers on Tuesday afternoon. A short-time later, he was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List.

The was released by the 49ers after being allegedly involved in a domestic violence matter in Tampa, Florida. on Saturday night. The woman and Foster were in an on-again, off-again relationship over the past several years.

The 24-year-old Auburn, Alabama native was arrested at approx. 9:10 pm at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, where the team was staying on the road. The 49ers played a game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

He was charged with one count of first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence from the incident. According to Tampa Police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor, he allegedly slapped the woman’s phone out of her hand. He also allegedly pushed her in the chest and slapped her on the left side of her face with an open hand.

The victim also allegedly had a one-inch scratch on her left collarbone.

“He was really taking some very positive steps and maturing in a really nice fashion,” general manager John Lynch told reporters before the game. “Unfortunately in life there’s consequences for your actions. When you show bad judgment, particularly after something has been communicated very clearly what the expectations are, there are consequences.”

This game, he appeared in six games. He had 29 tackles, including three tackles for a loss and two quarterback hits. He also had one pass deflection.

Foster — who has had problems with the law over the past two years, including a domestic violence incident earlier this year with the same woman — made 10 starts last season. He had 72 tackles, including seven tackles for a loss and five quarterback hits. He also had one pass deflection.

The 49ers used the 31st overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft on Foster.
