He played in 150 games this past season.

He had a .236 batting average with the franchise this season. He also had four home runs and 29 RBIs in 504 at-bats.

One interesting stat is Hamilton had 34 steals this season. The base-stealing specialist had his fewest amount of stolen bases since his rookie season in 2013 when he had 13 stolen bases in 13 games.

One year earlier, he had a career-high 59 stolen bases in 2017.

In the past, the Reds refused to deal Hamilton, as he was limited in what he could offer the team. The team tried to trade him at this year’s trade deadline, but they could not find a suitor for his services.

This past season, he had a $4.6 million salary. Prior to his roster move, he was supposed to be arbitration-eligible following the 2019 season and reaching free agency after the 2020 season, according to Spotrac.com.

Hamilton was one of four players, who was not offered contracts by the Reds. This also included outfielder-first baseman Jordan Patterson, outfielder Aristides Aquino, and catcher Juan Graterol.
