The Red Sox were reportedly the only team in the mix as of late. The New York Yankees were interested early on, but the team’s trade for James Paxton ended that pursuit.

The 28-year-old Alvin, Texas native has played for five teams in his career. Before being traded to the Red Sox, he played for the Tampa Bay Rays.

He also pitched for the Yankees, Miami Marlins, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Eovaldi helped the Red Sox defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.

He went six innings in the 18-inning marathon that ended nearly 4 am EST, as the Dodgers won 3-2 over the Red Sox. This game turned out to be the longest game in World Series history.

In the regular season, Eovaldi was 3-3 in 11 starts with the Red Sox. He had a 3.33 ERA in 54 innings. He allowed 28 runs (20 earned runs), including three home runs. He struck out 48 batters and walked 12.

Eovaldi was 2-1 in the Red Sox World Series Championship run in six games, including two starts, and one game finished. He had a 1.13 ERA in 22 ⅓ innings, while allowing five runs (four earned runs), including home run. He also had 16 strikeouts and three walks.
