The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin on Thursday night. He was released by the Buffalo Bills earlier this week.
Benjamin was a bust with the Bills. He acquired by them for a third-round pick and a seventh-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
If Benjamin can perform well with Andy Reid, the Chiefs will have another offensive weapon. This will help losing explosive player Kareem Hunt, who was released last Friday following a domestic violence video released by TMZ Sports.
This is Benjamin’s third team in the NFL. Besides playing for the Bills, he also played for the Carolina Panthers.
With the Bills, he appeared in 12 games, including 10 starts. He had 23 receptions for 354 yards and a touchdown.
He was released by the Bills following the team’s 21-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins on December 2nd. He had two receptions for 20 yards in the game.
In his final three games with the team, he had three receptions for 52 yards. He also had zero receptions after being targeted three times in the Bills 41-10 win over the New York Jets in Week 10 on November 11th.
His best yardage game with the Bills came in Week 7 when he had four receptions for 71 yards in the team’s 37-5 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. His lone touchdown came in a 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2, as he had two receptions for19 yards and a touchdown.
