The Los Angeles Lakers were mentioned as a place that Carmelo Anthony may land following his exit from the Atlanta Hawks. Instead, Anthony signed with the Houston Rockets.
According to The Athletic, James wants Anthony to sign with the Lakers. He cannot be traded until December 15th.
However, according to the story, James has not asked the Lakers to acquire Anthony yet.
According to Basketball-Reference, the duo has faced each other 33 times. James holds a 19-14 advantage. He also is averaging more than Anthony as he averaged 25.8 points compared to Anthony’s 22.2 points.
James also holds a 4-1 advantage in the postseason. James’ Miami Heat team defeated Anthony’s Knicks team in the 2012 NBA playoffs.
Anthony is a disgruntled player, who has been exiled from the Houston Rockets. After signing a one-year, $2.4 million player, he was banished from the team after 10 games.
The 34-year-old New York, New York native continues to refuse to accept a bench role with any team he plays for. With the Rockets, he appeared in 10 games with just two starts. He averaged 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 29.4 minutes per game.
His eight games off the bench for the Rockets was the first-time in his career that he came off the bench. He has appeared in 1,064 NBA games with 1,056 starts. He also has a career average of 24 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 35.8 minutes per game.
