According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to be without starting quarterback Carson Wentz on Sunday night. The Eagles play the Los Angeles Rams at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California on Sunday Night Football.
Wentz did not practice with the team on Wednesday. Rapoport also insists that Wentz may not play again this season.
The team has not released an update on his condition. They are reportedly gathering more information before making an announcement.
One year ago, Wentz tore his ACL against the Rams in Los Angeles. Then, Nick Foles took over for him and guided the franchise to their first-ever Super Bowl Championship.
Foles will replace Wentz for Sunday and possibly the rest of the season. The Eagles are fighting to stay in the NFC playoff picture with their 6-7 record.
As Wentz was recovering from his injury, Foles started the first two games of the season. He guided the team to an 18-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons, before losing 27-21 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 25-year-old Raleigh, North Carolina native guided the Eagles to a 5-6 record this season. He has gone 279 of 401 for 3,074 passing yards. He also has 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The 29-year-old Austin, Texas native has gone 54 of 82 for 451 yards. He also has a touchdown and an interception.
