FIU attempts to win third game in series against Toledo

The FIU Panthers face the Toledo Rockets in the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl on Friday afternoon. The game will kick off at 12:30 pm on ESPN at Thomas Robinson Stadium in the Nassau, Bahamas.

The Panthers bring an 8-4 record into the game. FIU is 4-1 on the road in 2018.

The Rockets are 7-5. They; however, are just 2-3 on the road.

According to Consensus Analysis, the Panthers have a 51% chance to win this game, according to their public poll. Their expert poll; however, gives FIU a 57% chance to win this game.

Florida International has a 2-1 all-time advantage in this series. Their last meeting took place on December 26th, 2010 when the Panthers won 34-32 in the Little Caesars Bowl in Detroit, Michigan.

FIU also won 35-16 when they won on September 27th, 2008. The Rockets only win came on September 26th, 2009 when they won 41-31.

The Panthers have a 1-2 Bowl record. The team has lost its last two Bowl games, including last year’s Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl in a 28-3 loss to the Temple Owls.

Their last Bowl win was in a 32-17 win over the Owls in the Boca Raton Bowl on December 22nd, 2015.

FIU lost their last regular season game, as they lost 28-25 to the Thundering Herd on November 24th. One week earlier, the Panthers won their last game, as they won 42-35 to the Charlotte 49ers.

Toledo won their last two regular season games. They defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas on November 23rd with a 51-13 score.

The team also defeated the Kent State Golden Flashes on November 15th. They won 56-34.

Their last loss was on November 7th. They were defeated 38-15 by the Northern Illinois Huskies.

The Panthers are averaging 34.6 points per game. Their offense is averaging 417.6 total yards per game.

FIU is giving up 24.7 points per contest. Their defense is giving up 386.7 total yards per game.

Panthers quarterback James Morgan has gone 213 of 326 for 2,727 yards. He also has 26 touchdowns and seven touchdowns.

Morgan is expected to miss the game, according to the Miami Herald. Christian Alexander will receive his first career start.
