The Houston Cougars were no match for the Army Black Knights triple-option offense on Saturday afternoon. The Black Knights won 70-14 over the Cougars in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Black Knights tied the largest margin of victory in a Bowl game with 56. They tied the Tulsa Golden Hurricane’s 63-7 win over the Bowling Green Falcons in the 2008 GMAC Bowl.
Army improved to 11-2 on the season. This team was the first-team in program history to win 11 games.

In addition, the Black Knights finished the season on a nine-game win streak. They are also 6-2 all-time in Bowl games, including a four-game Bowl win streak.
The Cougars fell to 8-5. Houston had their two-game win streak snapped in this Bowl loss.
Houston fell to 11-15-1 in Bowl games all-time. They have now lost their last three Bowl games.
This was the first meeting between these two teams since a 35-21 win by Houston on September 18th, 2004. Before Saturday’s win, Army’s last win in the series came on October 6th, 2001 when they won 28-14.
Black Knights quarterback Kelvin Hopkins Jr. went 3 of 3 for 70 yards.
Hopkins Jr. also led the backs with 11 carries for 170 yards and five touchdowns. Jordan Asberry had two receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown.
Cougars quarterback Clayton Tune went 21 of 32 for 230 yards. He had one touchdown pass.
Patrick Carr had nine carries for 52 yards. Marquez Stevenson had eight receptions for 72 yards.

The Black Knights outscored the Cougars 28-7 in the second half. Hopkins Jr. scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.
Connor Slovak scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown. Cam Thomas hit Asberry for a 15-yard touchdown reception.
Thomas also scored on a 20-yard touchdown reception.
Cougars’ score came in the fourth quarter. Tune scored on a six-yard rushing touchdown.
Army led 42-7 at halftime. Hopkins Jr. scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. He also scored on a 77-yard rushing touchdown.
Cameron Jones scored on a 23-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Hopkins Jr. scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. He also scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown.
Artice Hobbs IV scored on an 11-yard rushing touchdown.
Cougars’ first half points came in the second quarter. Tune hit Romello Booker for a three-yard touchdown reception.
