Annexstad leads Golden Gophers in first Bowl game since 2016

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are facing the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Quick Lane Bowl on Wednesday night. The game will kick off at 5:15 pm EST on ESPN from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

The Golden Gophers bring a .500 record into the game with a 6-6 mark. They; however, just have one win on the road (1-4 overall).

The Yellow Jackets are 7-5. They have three wins on the road and are 3-3 away from Atlanta, Georgia.

According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis, the Yellow Jackets have a 69% chance to win this game, according to their public poll. Their expert poll; however, gives Georgia Tech a 65% chance to win this game.

This is the first career meeting between the two teams.

Minnesota is 7-12 all-time in Bowl games. They have won their last two Bowl games.

They defeated the Washington State Cougars 17-12 in the Holiday Bowl on December 27th, 2016 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. The team also won the 2015 Quick Lane Bowl, winning 21-14 over the Central Michigan Chippewas on December 28th, 2015 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

The Golden Gophers have not lost a Bowl game since the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl when they lost 33-17 to the Missouri Tigers on January 1st, 2015 at Orlando Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

Their last last Bowl loss came on December 30th, 2013 in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl with a 25-17 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels at LP Field in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Golden Gophers won their last game of the regular season, as they won 37-15 over the Wisconsin Badgers on November 24th. Their last loss came in a 24-14 loss to then-No. 22 Northwestern Wildcats on November 17th.

Minnesota is averaging 28.5 points per game. Their offense is averaging 378.6 total yards per game.

Their defense is allowing 27.9 points per game. In addition, their defense is allowing 394.3 total yards per game.
