The TCU Horned Frogs defeated the Indiana State Sycamores on Tuesday night. The Horned Frogs won 83-69 over the Sycamores in the Diamond Head Classic Championship game at Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawai’i.
This is the first-time that TCU has won this tournament. This is their third midseason tournament win since Jamie Dixon was hired by the school.
They also won the 2016 Global Sports Classic and the 2017 Emerald Coast Classic.
The Horned Frogs improved to 11-1 on the season. They are now a perfect 4-0 in neutral site games.
TCU has won eight straight games.
The Sycamores fell to 8-4 on the season. This was their first neutral site game loss, as they fell to 2-1.
Indiana State is now on a one-game losing streak after winning two straight games.
Alex Robinson led the Horned Frogs with 15 points. He also had eight rebounds and four assists.
This was Robinson’s best game of the Diamond Head Classic. In his first two games of the tournament, he had six points against the Charlotte 49ers on December 22nd and 11 points against the Bucknell Bison on December 23rd.
His best game of the season came on November 11th when he had 23 points against the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles.
Robinson was one of five TCU players, who scored double-figures. JD Miller and Kouat Noi scored 12 points, while Jaylen Fisher added 11, and Kendric Davis contributed 10 points.
The Horned Frogs had 33 bench points. Noi led the bench with 12 points. He also had one assist.
Indiana State was led by Tyreke Key and Jordan Barnes with 14 points each. Key had three rebounds. Barnes had six rebounds and three assists.
The 14 points were the fewest amount of points for Barnes in a game this season. His previous low was 16 points against the Ball State Cardinals on November 6th.
Key had his third-lowest performance of the season in this game. He had three points against the Horned Frogs on December 16th and 12 points against the Colorado Buffaloes on December 22nd.
His season high was 26 points against the Truman Bulldogs on December 8th. Barnes had a season-high 29 points against the Green Bay Phoenix on November 9th.
Key and Barnes were one of four Indiana State players, who scored in double-figures. Christian Williams and Clayton Hughes scored 10 points each.
The Sycamores had 15 bench points. Bronson Kessinger led the bench with eight points.
