Ravens will attempt to deal Flacco with no potential outs until after 2019 season

The Baltimore Ravens have a bright future with Lamar Jackson as their starting quarterback. Since taking over the reins, he is 6-1.
That leads the Ravens in a unique position. It’s actually the same position that the Kansas City Chiefs were in one-year ago.
The Chiefs had a veteran signal-caller, who had been the starter. And they had an up-and–coming quarterback, who was expected to take over the reins.
The Chiefs traded Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins. In exchange, Kansas City acquired cornerback Kendall Fuller and a third-round draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft this past March when the trade was official.
The Ravens will have to trade Joe Flacco. According to Spotrac, the Ravens do not have an out to get out of his contract until after the 2019 season.
Flacco is due an $18.5 million base salary in 2019. He also will be paid an $8 million signing bonus, according to Spotrac.
Longtime Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome is stepping down at the end of the season. He will be replaced in 2019 by Eric DeCosta, who will be the team’s general manager moving forward.
The Ravens will have several teams, who will likely be interested in Flacco’s services in a trade. The 33-year-old Voorhees, New Jersey native could be potentially traded to the Redskins.
They may need another starting quarterback as Smith suffered a potentially career-ending injury in November against the Houston Texans. He suffered a compound fracture in his fibula and tibia in the game.
Since then, he has had to deal with infections following multiple surgeries. The Redskins do not know at this time if he will even play again.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to be potentially interested in acquiring Flacco’s services. The Buccaneers — who are expected to fire head coach Dirk Koetter after the season — is expected to move on from quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Koetter juggled between Winston and Fitzpatrick all season and it was a disaster.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are also another team, who is expected to be interested in Flacco. They are expected to release Blake Bortles in the off-season after a disastrous 2018 season.
Flacco — who has been the team’s starter since the 2008 season — has started nine games for the team this season. He has gone 4-5 in those starts.
He has gone 232 of 379 for 2,465 yards. He also has 12 touchdowns and six interceptions.
In his career, he has started 163 games. He has a record of 96-67 as an NFL starter. He has completed 3,499 of 5,670 for 38,245 yards. Flacco also has 212 touchdowns and 136 interceptions.
