Baylor will attempt to defeat Vanderbilt for third-time in Texas Bowl

The Baylor Bears face the Vanderbilt Commodores in the Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl. The game will kick off at 9 pm EST at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

The Bears have a 6-6 record. Two of their six wins have come on the road, as they were 2-4.

The Commodores also have a 6-6 record. They; however, have just one win on the road (1-4).

According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis, the Commodores have a 63% chance to win this game, according to their public poll. Their expert poll; however, gives Vanderbilt a 57% chance to win this game.

This is the third career meeting between these two teams. However, it is the first meeting since the 1954 season.

Baylor has a 2-0 all-time lead against Vanderbilt. The Bears won 25-19 over Vanderbilt on September 25, 1954. They also won 47-6 over the Commodores on October 17th, 1953.

The Bears have a 12-11 all-time Bowl record. They have won their last two Bowl games.

They won the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl with a 31-12 win over the Boise State Broncos at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona on December 27th, 2016. They also won the Russell Athletic Bowl with a 49-38 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels on December 29th, 2015 at Orlando Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

Their last Bowl loss came in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in a 42-41 loss to the Michigan State Spartans on January 1st, 2015 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Commodores have a 4-3-1 all-time record in Bowl games. They lost their last Bowl game, as they lost 41-17 to the North Carolina State Wolfpack in the Camping World Independence Bowl on December 26th, 2016 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The last Vanderbilt Bowl win came in the BBVA Compass Bowl as they won 41-24 over the Houston Cougars on January 4th, 2014 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Bears won their last regular season game as they won 35-24 to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on November 24th. Their last regular season loss came in a 16-9 loss to the TCU Horned Frogs on November 17th.

Baylor is averaging 28.3 points per game. Their offense is allowing 441.7 total yards per game.

Their defense is allowing 31.2 points per game. In addition, they are allowing 413.3 total yards per contest.

Bears quarterback Charlie Brewer has gone 219 of 356 for 2,635 yards. He has 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
