Cruz brings a home run presence that is definitely needed. The Twins had just two players, who had more than 20 home runs on the season.

Eddie Rosario led the Twins with 24 home runs in 138 games. Max Kepler added 20 home runs in 156 games.

Minnesota has not had a player hit more than 30 home runs since the 2016 season. Brian Dozier hit 34 home runs that season before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers following the season.

This past season, Cruz had a .256 batting average with 37 home runs and 97 RBIs in 144 games. He also had 18 doubles and one triple, along with 70 runs, in 133 hits over 519 at-bats.

The 38-year-old Las Matas de Santa Cruz, Dominican Republic native spent the last four seasons with the Seattle Mariners. There, he appeared in 606 games with a .284 batting average. He also had 163 home runs and 414 RBIs on 640 hits in 2,254 at-bats.

Cruz will be joining his fifth MLB team with this move. Besides the Mariners, he also played with the Texas Rangers, Baltimore Orioles, and the Milwaukee Brewers. He spent the most time with the Rangers, where he played eight years.
