Amanda Nunes defeated Cris Cyborg in the first-round of UFC 232 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Nunes is the new UFC featherweight champion.
She is just the second weight class champion. She joins Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier, who previously won belts in two separate weight classes.
The 30-year-old Salvador, Bahia, Brazil native improved to 17-4 in her MMA career. She has now won her last eight bouts.
This is Nunes’ second straight win by knockout. She also defeated Raquel Pennington at UFC 224 by TKO (Elbows and Punches) on May 12th, 2018. However, this is her first knockout in the first-round since knocking out Ronda Rousey by TKO (Punches) on December 30th, 2016.
The 33-year-old Curitiba, Parana, Brazil native fell to 20-2-1 in her MMA career. This is Cyborg’s first loss since her first MMA bout to Erica Paes at Showfight 2 on May 17th, 2005.
She lost the bout to Paes by a submission (kneebar) in the first-round.
In between both losses, she had won 20 bouts with the no contest coming to Hiroko Yamanaka at Strikeforce on December 17th, 2011. The result was overturned by the CSAC to a no decision.
Before the loss, Cyborg had won 10 straight, including five straight in the UFC.
