Bulldogs, Hawkeyes clash in Outback Bowl in first-ever meeting

The No. 18 Mississippi State Bulldogs face the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day. The game will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The game will start at noon on ESPN2.

The Bulldogs bring an 8-4 record into this game. However, just two of their eight wins have come on the road (2-3 overall).

The Hawkeyes have an 8-4 record, as well. Three of their eight wins were on the road (3-2 overall).

According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis, the Hawkeyes have a 64% chance to win this game, according to their public poll. Their expert poll; however, gives Iowa a 65% chance to win this game.

This is the first meeting all-time between these two teams.

The Hawkeyes have a 15-15-1 all-time record in Bowl games. They have a one-game Bowl win streak.

Their last Bowl game win came in a 27-20 win over the Boston College Eagles in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on December 27th, 2017 at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New Year. In their last Bowl loss, the Florida Gators defeated the Hawkeyes, 30-3, in the Outback Bowl on January 2nd, 2017 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
