Georgia will attempt to win their second game vs. Texas in the Sugar Bowl

The No. 15 Texas Longhorns face the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day. The game will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The game will kick off at 8:45 pm EST on ESPN.

The Longhorns have a 9-4 record this season. Four of their nine wins came on the road (4-3 overall).

The Bulldogs have an 11-2 record. Three of their 11 wins came on the road (3-1 overall).

According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis, the Bulldogs have a 57% chance to win this game, according to their public poll. Their expert poll; however, gives Georgia a 75% chance to win this game.

This is the fifth meeting all-time between these two teams. However, this is the first meeting between these two teams since the 1984 season.

This is the third meeting between the schools in Bowl games. Each team won one of the Bowl games.

Georgia has won one game in this series, while Texas has won three. The Bulldogs lone win came in a 10-9 win over the Longhorns on January 2nd, 1984 in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

This win by the Bulldogs snapped a three-game win streak by the Longhorns. They won 13-8 over Texas on September 20th, 1958.

The Longhorns won 26-7 over the Bulldogs in Atlanta, Georgia on September 21st, 1957. Texas also won 41-28 over the Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida on January 1st, 1949.

The Longhorns were defeated 39-27 by the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners in the Big 12 Conference Championship game on December 1st. Their last win was a 24-17 win over the Kansas Jayhawks on November 23rd.

The Bulldogs have a 31-20-3 all-time record in Bowl games. They have a one-game Bowl losing streak.

Their last Bowl game loss came when they were defeated 26-23 by the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff National Championship game on January 8th, 2018 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Their last Bowl game win came in the Rose Bowl Game when they won 54-48 over the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff Semifinal on January 1st, 2018 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

The Longhorns have a 28-24-2 all-time record in Bowl games. They have a one-game Bowl win streak.

Their last Bowl game win came in a 33-16 win over the Missouri Tigers in the Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas bowl on December 27th, 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Their last Bowl loss came in a 31-7 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks in the Texas Bowl at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Texas is averaging 31.3 points per game. Their offense is averaging 415.6 total yards per contest.

Their defense is allowing 26.2 points per game. In addition, their defense is allowing 401.2 total yards per game.

Longhorns quarterback Sam Ehlinger has gone 256 of 398 for 3,123 yards. He also had 25 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Tre Watson leads the Longhorns backs with 167 carries for 695 yards and three touchdowns. Lil’Jordan Humphrey leads the Longhorns receivers with 79 receptions for 1,109 yards and nine touchdowns.
