Nittany Lions look to win third straight game vs. Wildcats in Citrus Bowl

The No. 14 Kentucky Wildcats face the No. 12 Penn State Nittany Lions in the VRBO Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day. The game will be played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The game will kick off at 1 pm EST on ABC.

The Wildcats have a 9-3 record. However, just three of their nine wins have come on the road (3-2 overall).

The Nittany Lions are also 9-3 overall. Four of their nine wins have come on the road (4-1 overall).

According to Covers.com Consensus Analysis, the Nittany Lions have a 61% chance to win this game, according to their public poll. Their expert poll also gives Penn State a 61% chance to win this game.

This is the sixth meeting all-time between these two teams. This is just the second meeting all-time in a Bowl game.

The Nittany Lions have won the last two games in the series. They won 26-14 in the Outback Bowl on January 1st, 1999.

They also won 30-0 over the Wildcats on October 7th, 1978. Penn State also won the inaugural meeting, 10-3, over the Wildcats on October 4th, 1975.

Kentucky has not won in this series since 1977. They won 24-20 over Penn State on October 1st, 1977.

They also won 22-6 over the Nittany Lions on October 2nd, 1976.

Penn State has a 29-17-2 all-time record in Bowl games. They have a one-game Bowl win streak.

In their last Bowl win, they defeated the Washington Huskies, 35-28, in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl on December 30th, 2017 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Their last Bowl loss came in a 52-49 loss to the USC Trojans in the Rose Bowl Game on January 2nd, 2017 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

Kentucky has an 8-9 all-time record in Bowl games. They have a four-game Bowl losing streak.

Their last Bowl loss came in a 24-23 loss to the Northwestern Wildcats in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl on December 29th, 2017 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Their last Bowl win came in a 25-19 win over the East Carolina Pirates in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on January 2nd, 2009 at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee.

The Wildcats bring a two-game win streak into this game. Their last regular season loss came in a 24-7 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers on November 10th.
