The Boston Bruins defeated the Chicago Blackhawks on New Year’s Day. The Bruins won 4-2 over the Blackhawks in the 2019 Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana.
This is the second win for the Bruins in the Winter Classic. They also defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-1 in overtime at Fenway Park on January 1st, 2010.
Boston is now tied with two other teams with two wins. The Washington Capitals won in 2011 and 2015. The New York Rangers won in 2012 and 2018.

After the game was tied in the third period, the Bruins scored two goals. Sean Kuraly scored on a goal assisted by Matt Grzelcyk and Chris Wagner to make it 3-2 at 10:20 in the period.
Brad Marchand put the game away with the Bruins’ fourth goal of the game. He scored at 19:27 on an assisted goal by David Krejčí.
Chicago took a 2-1 lead when Dominik Kahun scored his fifth goal of the season at the 11:24 mark on a goal assisted by Jonathan Toews and Erik Gustafsson. Boston tied the game at 2-2 at the 18:48 mark when he scored his 13th goal of the season on the power play on an assist by David Pastrňák and Torey Krug.
The Blackhawks scored first as Brendan Perlini made it 1-0 on his fifth goal of the season on an assisted goal by Dylan Sikura and David Kämpf at the 8:30 mark in the first period. The Bruins tied the game at 1-1 when Pastrňák scored his 24th goal of the season on a power play goal assisted by Patrice Bergeron at the 12:38 mark.

Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask made 36 saves in the game for the win. He allowed two goals.
Blackhawks goalie Cam Ward received the loss. He made 32 saves and allowed three goals.
