According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown has requested a trade. La Canfora said it was not a demand, but he wants to be traded.
However, he said that the Steelers may not deal him. La Canfora said that Brown has had issues with Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Head Coach Mike Tomlin.
Brown, according to the report, feels like the coach is “too aligned with the quarterback.”
On Monday, news began to leak out that Brown left Sunday’s season finale at halftime. He also was inactive, not because of an injury, like originally thought, but because he was being punished.
Brown had an argument last Wednesday with Roethlisberger. Then, the star receiver missed practices and even a team meeting prior to Sunday’s finale.
Roethlisberger said that he has no issues with Brown, according to ESPN.
The 30-year-old Miami, Florida native made 15 starts this season. He had 104 receptions for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns. The 15 touchdowns were a career-high; surpassing his previous record of 13 touchdowns in 2014.
He has had six straight seasons, where he had more than 1,000 receiving yards. He has seven 1,000-plus receiving yardage seasons in his career.
In his final game of the season, he had his best game in a 31-28 loss to the New Orleans Saints, he had 14 receptions for 185 yards and two touchdowns.
