The UCF Knights 25-game win streak is over. The No. 11 LSU Tigers defeated the No. 8 Knights, 40-32, on New Year’s Day in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
The Tigers ended the season with a 10-3 record. They end their season on a one-game win streak.
LSU improved to 26-23-1 in Bowl games all-time. This won snapped their one-game Bowl losing streak.
The Knights fell to 12-1 on the season. This was their first loss since the Cure Bowl on December 17th, 2016 when they were defeated 31-13 by the Arkansas State Red Wolves.
The win streak went on for 745 days.
UCF fell to 4-6 all-time in Bowl games. Their one-game Bowl win streak was snapped with this loss.
Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow went 21 of 34 for 394 yards. He had four touchdowns and one interception.
Nick Brossette had 29 carries for 117 yards. Clyde Edwards-Helaire had 10 carries for 32 yards. Burrow had nine carries for 24 yards.
Ja’Marr Chase had six receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown. Justin Jefferson had four receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Derrick Dillon had two receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown.
Stephen Sullivan had three receptions for 76 yards. Edwards-Helaire had three receptions for 25 yards.
Knights quarterback Darriel Mack Jr. went 11 of 30 for 97 yards. He also had a touchdown and an interception.
Greg McCrae had 10 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown. Taj McGowan had two carries for six yards and a touchdown.
Gabriel Davis had three receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown. Dredrick Snelson had two receptions for 24 yards.
LSU scored 16 points in the second half. Burrow hit Chase for a 32-yard touchdown reception. Cole Tracy also made three field goals.
UCF had 11 points in the second half. McGowan scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown. Mack Jr. hit Anderson for a two-point conversion.
Matthew Wright made a 37-yard field goal.
The Tigers led 24-21 at halftime. Burrow hit Jefferson for a 22-yard touchdown reception. Burrow hit Dillon for a 49-yard touchdown reception.
Burrow hit Jefferson for a 33-yard touchdown reception. Tracy made a 24-yard field goal.
Knights’ McCrae scored on a 25-yard rushing touchdown. Brandon Moore scored on a 93-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Mack Jr. hit Davis for a 32-yard touchdown reception.
