The Arizona Cardinals have hired Kliff Kingsbury as head coach. This will be Kingsbury’s first opportunity as an NFL head coach.
Kingsbury replaces Steve Wilks, who was fired by the team after just one season. Wilks guided the team to a 3-13 record in 2018.
Before being named the Cardinals head coach, he was hired as the USC Trojans Offensive Coordinator. Trojans Athletic Director Lynn Swann was blocking NFL teams from interviewing him.
He then reportedly resigned, which allowed him to interview with the New York Jets on Monday. And the Cardinals on Tuesday.
Before being hired by the USC Trojans for the last month, he was the Texas Tech Red Raiders head coach. He went 35-40 at his alma mater in six seasons.
The 2012 season was spent as the Texas A&M Aggies Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. He also was the Houston Cougars Co-Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach in 2010 and 2011.
He was the Cougars Offensive Quality Control Coach in 2008 and 2009.
