Cleveland Browns hires Freddie Kitchens as head coach

The Cleveland Browns has hired Freddie Kitchens as their new head coach. Kitchens spent the latter part of the 2018 season as Interim Offensive Coordinator.

The Browns selected Kitchens over Minnesota Vikings Interim Offensive Coordinator Kevin Stefanski.

Before the Browns fired Head Coach Hue Jackson and Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley in October, Kitchens was the Browns Running Backs Coach & Associate Head Coach. He was the Arizona Cardinals Running Backs Coach in 2017.

He also served as the Cardinals Quarterbacks Coach from 2013 through 2016. He was the Cardinals Tight Ends Coach from 2007 through 2012.

Kitchens spent the 2006 season as the Dallas Cowboys Tight Ends Coach in 2006. He was the Mississippi State Bulldogs Running Backs Coach in 2005.

He also was the Bulldogs Right Ends Coach in 2004. He served as the North Texas Mean Green’s Running Backs Coach from 2001 through 2003.

He served as a Graduate Assistant with the LSU Tigers in 2000. The 44-year-old Gadsden, Alabama native began his coaching career with the Glenville State Pioneers Running Backs & Tight Ends Coach in 1999.
