The Tampa Bay Buccaneers has hired Todd Bowles as the team’s Defensive Coordinator. He reunites with Bruce Arians, who was recently hired as the Buccaneers Head Coach.
Arians and Bowles were previously together with the Arizona Cardinals. The two worked together with the Cardinals in 2013 and 2014.
The Bears attempted to add Bowles as their Defensive Coordinator. However, Bowles elected to join Arians staff.
Chicago lost Vic Fangio, their Defensive Coordinator for the last four seasons, on Wednesday. He was named the Denver Broncos Head Coach.
He also was the Philadelphia Eagles Interim Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach from October 16, 2012 after the team fired former Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo. He was hired as the team’s Secondary Coach in January 2012.
The 55-year-old Elizabeth, New Jersey native was named the Miami Dolphins Interim Head Coach and Secondary Coach on December 18th, 2011. He went 2-1 as the team’s Interim Head Coach.
He was the team’s Assistant Head Coach and Secondary Coach from 2008 through 2011. Before joining the Dolphins, he spent three seasons as the Dallas Cowboys Secondary Coach from 2005 through 2007.
Bowles also served as the Cleveland Browns Secondary Coach in 2004. He was the Browns Secondary-Nickel Package Coach from 2001 through 2003.
In 2000, he was the Jets Secondary Coach. He was the Grambling State Tigers Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach in 1998 and 1999.
He began his coaching career as the Morehouse College Tigers Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach in 1986 through 1990.
