Nationals add Brian Dozier with one-year deal

The Washington Nationals have signed free agent second baseman Brian Dozier on Thursday morning. He signed a one-year, $9 million deal with the franchise.

The 31-year-old Fulton, Mississippi native will be joining his third MLB team. He previously played for the Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He was traded by the Twins to the Dodgers for Logan Forsythe and prospects Luke Raley and Devin Smeltzer.

He had a .182 batting average with five home runs and 20 RBIs after the trade in 47 games. He also had two doubles on 26 hits and scored 16 runs.

Before the trade to Los Angeles, he had a .307 batting average with 16 home runs and 52 RBIs in 104 games. He also had 21 doubles, two triples in 93 hits.

Dozier also scored 65 runs.
