“It’s been almost four years, now, since the day I got the phone call that changed my life,” Hurts wrote in his post. “A coach by the name of Nick Saban was on the line, wanting to ask about the chances of a Texas boy like me packing up for Tuscaloosa, and coming to play football at the University of Alabama.

“I took my recruiting visit — and then never took another. It was just love at first sight between me and this program. And it’s crazy to think about the journeys we’ve both been on since then.”

In the College Football Playoff Semifinal, the Crimson Tide played the Oklahoma Sooners. Hurts went 1 of 1 for 10 yards against the Sooners in the Capital One Orange Bowl.

Hurts, who lost his starting job in 2018 to Tua Tagovailoa, had an opportunity to transfer in-season. However, he elected to stay and graduate first before moving on.

He went 51 of 70 for 765 games through 13 games. He had eight touchdowns and two interceptions.

In addition, he also saved the Crimson Tide’s season on Dec. 1 in the SEC Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs. With Tagovailoa injured, Nick Saban called on Hurts to guide the team from behind to score two touchdowns and get the win.

In his career, he has gone 445 of 707 for 5,626 yards in 42 games. He had 48 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
