Tigers’ Cannady arrested for allegedly throwing punch at officer

Devin Cannady has been suspended from participating in any practices or games with the Princeton Tigers men’s basketball team. He allegedly threw a punch at a campus police officer.

In addition, he had an incident at a local convenience store that resulted in his arrest. Cannady was suspended from the team on Friday.

He was arrested following a confrontation with customers at a campus Wawa convenience store, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office. From the incident, he was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

The alleged incident happened at approx. 3:30 pm EST on Friday. Cannady allegedly pushed customers and threatened other customers at the same time.

Following the Wawa incident, he allegedly began cursing at campus police officers. During this time, Cannady allegedly threw a punch at one of the officers, who were called to the scene.

The AP is reporting that Cannady’s punch grazed the officer’s hand.

The Mishawaka, Indiana native, who is a senior, was the team’s leading scorer before his suspension. He was averaging 19.5 points per game in 12 contests.
