New York Jets hires Dowell Loggains as Offensive Coordinator. He is the first hire by new Jets head coach Adam Gase.
Since Gase has called his own plays, Loggains is more so serving as an adviser while having the Offensive Coordinator title. The Jets are hoping that Gase and Loggains will help in the development of Sam Darnold, who was the team’s third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Darnold struggled in his first professional season under former head coach Todd Bowles and his coaching staff.
Loggains was previously on the Miami Dolphins staff together in 2018. He was the Dolphins Offensive Coordinator.
Before being named the Dolphins Offensive Coordinator, he was the Chicago Bears Offensive Coordinator in 2016 and 2017. Loggains was the Bears Quarterbacks Coach in 2015, while Gase was the team’s Offensive Coordinator.
He also was the Cleveland Browns Quarterbacks Coach in 2014. He served as the Tennessee Titans Offensive Coordinator in 2012 and 2013.
Loggains also served as the Titans Quarterbacks Coach in 2010 and 2011. He began his coaching career with the Titans as their Offensive Quality Control Coach in 2008 and 2009.
