The Houston Texans are expected to promote Tim Kelly to Offensive Coordinator. He was previously the team’s tight ends coach.

Kelly will be the team’s first Offensive Coordinator in three seasons. Head Coach Bill O’Brien called the plays the last two seasons without an Offensive Coordinator.

George Godsey was the last Offensive Coordinator with the team during the 2016 season. He spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions staff, before joining the Miami Dolphins staff for the 2019 season.

Kelly goes back with O’Brien to their days together with the Penn State Nittany Lions. Despite the elevated job title, O’Brien is still expected to call the Texans plays.

Will Lawing, who served last season as an Offensive Assistant, is expected to replace Kelly as Tight Ends Coach.
