The problem with the Panthers in their attempt to acquire Bobrovsky is they are currently paying Roberto Luongo and James Reimer. Both are under contract respectively through the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.
In addition, they are combined making $7.933 million against the cap. The 39-year-old Luongo has a $4.53 million cap hit this season.
Plus, the 30-year-old Reimer has a $3.4 million cap hit.
The 30-year-old Novokuznetsk, USSR native was suspended for one game by the Blue Jackets in January. He did not play against the Nashville Predators at Nationwide Arena on January 10th, before returning to practice with his teammates one day later.
