Grizzlies deal Gasol to Raptors

The Toronto Raptors has acquired Marc Gasol in a blockbuster deal. In exchange, the Raptors are sending Jonas Valančiūnas, Delon Wright, CJ Miles, and a 2024 second-round draft pick to the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies have been looking to unload Gasol and Mike Conley Jr., as the team looks to rebuild.

Gasol will be playing for his second NBA team when he suits up for the Raptors. This is the second NBA trade of his career despite not playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, who drafted him with the 48th pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

He was traded on Feb. 1st, 2008 by the Lakers with Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, a 2008 first-round draft pick (used to draft Donte Greene) and a 2010 first-round draft pick (used to draft Greivis Vásquez) to the Memphis Grizzlies. In exchange, the Lakers received Pau Gasol and a 2010 second-round draft pick.

This season, Gasol has made 53 starts with the Grizzlies. He averaged 15.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game.

In his career, he has appeared in 769 games, including 762 starts. He is averaging 15.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.9 steals, and 2.1 blocks per game.

Valančiūnas will be playing for his second NBA team after being his career with the Raptors. This season, he has made 30 appearances, including 10 starts. He is averaging 12.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game.

In his career, he has made 470 appearances, including 444 starts. He is averaging 11.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game.

Like Valančiūnas, Wright will be joining his second NBA team. He has made 49 appearances, including two starts this season. He is averaging 6.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game.

Wright has made 172 appearances in his career, including seven starts. He is averaging 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game in his career.

Miles will be playing for his fifth tea in his career. He made 40 appearances, including one start this season. He was averaging 5.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game.

In his career, he has made 825 appearances, including 303 starts. He is averaging 9.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game.
