The Arizona Cardinals have signed free agent defensive end Brooks Reed. He has received a one-year, $2 million deal.
Reed signs with the Cardinals after being released by the Atlanta Falcons earlier this week, as they look to clear cap space. He is the second former Falcons player to sign with the Cardinals this week.
Former Falcons cornerback Robert Alford, who was also released by the Falcons this week, signed a multi-year deal with the Cardinals.
The 31-year-old returns to his home state in this move. He was born in Tucson, Arizona, which is about a two-hour drive from his new home.
Reed will be playing for his third NFL team. He spent the last four seasons with the Falcons after beginning his career with the Houston Texans.
Last season, he appeared in 16 games with eight starts. He had 24 tackles, including four quarterback hits. He had 1.0 sacks with one forced fumble.
In Atlanta, he had 60 appearances with 34 starts. He had 101 tackles, including 10 tackles for a loss and 20 quarterback hits. He also had 7.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection.
As a member of the Texans for four seasons, he had 60 appearances, including 52 starts. He had 169 tackles, including 25 tackles for a loss and 34 quarterback hits. He also had 14.5 sacks, one interception, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 10 pass deflections.
