Clippers waive Michael Beasley

The Los Angeles Clippers have released forward Michael Beasley on Saturday. He was acquired in a trade on Thursday with the Los Angeles Lakers. 

In the deal, the Clippers acquired Beasley and center Ivica Zubac in exchange for forward Mike Muscala. Beasley had problems with Lakers head coach Luke Walton before the deal.

Now, as a free agent, the 30-year-old Cheverly, Maryland native will attempt to sign with another team. He signed a one-year deal with the Lakers last off-season in July. 

As a member of the Lakers, he appeared in 26 games, including two starts. He averaged 7.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. 

He missed time when his mother was ill before she passed away in December 2018. 

If Beasley signs with a new team that he did not previously play for, it’ll be his eighth NBA team. Besides playing to the Lakers, he has also previously played for the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, and the Houston Rockets. Beasley was previously the second overall pick by the Heat in the 2008 NBA Draft.
