Chris Bosh announced he will officially retire from the NBA on March 26th. The former NBA champion last played in the league during the 2015-16 season.
The Miami Heat recently announced that they were going to retire Bosh’s jersey on that March 26th day. He has been medically retired, so his $26.8 million salary does not count against the cap.
He was waived by the Heat on July 4th, 2017. During his tenure with the Heat, he won two NBA Championships in 2012 and 2013.
Bosh told The Ringer’s Bill Simmons on Tuesday morning that he will never play in the NBA again. This is the first-time that Bosh has publicly acknowledged this after battling blood clots late in his career.
Bosh made 53 starts during that 2015-16 season with the Heat. He averaged 19.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game.
Over the last two seasons, he appeared in 97 out of a possible 164 games. He last played more than 70 games during the 2013-14 season when he played in 79 games.
In his career with the Heat and the Toronto Raptors, he had 893 appearances with 881 starts. He averaged 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game in 35.8 minutes per game.
