Butner claims No. 1 Pro Stock qualifier at 2019 Phoenix event

Jim Butner Auto Group’s Bo Butner is the No. 1 qualifier on Saturday at the 35th annual Magic Dry Organic Absorbent NHRA Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona. Butner — who retired then decided to come back — is looking to win back-to-back races to begin the season.

The Floyds Knobs, Indiana native claimed the top spot after he went 6.522 at 211.46 mph in the third qualifying session. This is his first No. 1 qualifier of the season.

“Our Chevy Camaro has been pretty good since I came back out this season,” Butner stated. “This is just carrying over from Pomona because we didn’t chance a lot. I’m very happy and the momentum is going great.” 

He will face Joey Grose in the first-round of eliminations.

Speed Society Pro Stock driver Alex Laughlin is the No. 2 qualifier after he went 6.526 at 211.79 mph. He will face Steve Graham in the first-round of eliminations.

Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock driver Jason Line is the No. 3 qualifier after he went 6.528 at 212.16 mph. He will face New Jersey native Alan Prusiensky in the first-round of eliminations.

Total Seal/Nitro Fish Pro Stock driver Matt Hartford is the No. 4 qualifier after he went 6.536 at 210.87 mph. He will face Val Smeland in the first-round of eliminations.

Elite Performance’s Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon is the No. 5 qualifier after he went 6.538 at 210.90 mph. He will face Fernando Cuadra in the first-round of eliminations.
