2019 Apollos vs. Iron Week 5 preview

The undefeated Orlando Apollos will kick off Week 5 against the Birmingham Iron. This is a matchup of two of the best teams in the league.

The game will kick off at 2 pm EST, 1 pm local time at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. The game will be broadcasted on TNT.

Combined these two teams have a 7-1 record. The Apollos brings a 4-0 mark into the game, as the lone undefeated team in the league.

The Iron are the only one loss team in the league, as they are 3-1.

After winning the first two games by 42 points, the Apollos have won their last two games by a combined 13 points. They defeated the Memphis Express by just four points, 21-17, on Feb. 23.

Birmingham fell in their last contest after winning their first three games of the season. The San Antonio Commanders won 12-11 over the Iron on March 3rd.

The Iron won their first three games by a combined 45 points, including the first shutout in AAF history with a 26-0 win over the Express in Week 1.

Apollos quarterback Garrett Gilbert has gone 70 of 113 for 1,071 yards. He also has six touchdowns.

D’Ernest Johnson is fifth in the league in rushing yards. He has 34 carries for 202 yards and one touchdown.

Charles Johnson leads the league in receiving. He has 23 receptions for 410 yards and one touchdown.

Iron quarterback Luis Perez went 79 of 141 for 797 yards. He also has three interceptions.

Trent Richardson is eighth in the league in rushing. He has 67 carries for 160 yards and seven touchdowns.

Despite leading the league with his seven touchdowns, he has one of the worst averages in the league at 2.4.

Quinton Patton is fourth in the league in receiving yards. He has 13 receptions for 226 yards.
