Auburn shocks No. 5 Tennessee in Alabama

The Auburn Tigers defeated the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers won 84-80 over the Volunteers at Auburn Arena in Auburn, Alabama.

The Tigers improved to 22-9 on the season. Auburn has won their last four games.

The Volunteers fell to 27-4. Their three-game win streak was snapped with this loss.

Chuma Okeke led the Tigers with 22 points. He also had five rebounds, one assist, four steals, and one block.

This is the first time this month that he has scored double-figures in a game. It was his first double-figures contest since he had 23 points on Feb. 13 against the Ole Miss Rebels.

The 23-point performance against the Rebels is Okeke’s season-high. Okeke was one of three Auburn players, who scored in double-figures.

Jared Harper and Bryce Brown had 16 points apiece.

The Tigers had 25 bench points. Samir Doughty led the bench with nine points.

He also had four rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Grant Williams led the Volunteers with 25 points. He also had nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

This was Williams’ second 20-plus performance of this month. He also had 24 points on March 2nd against the Kentucky Wildcats.

He scored a season-high 43 points against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Jan. 23.

Williams was one of four Tennessee players, who scored in double-digits. Jordan Bone had 17, while Jordan Bowden scored 16, and Admiral Schofield contributed 13.

The Volunteers had 16 bench points. All of those points came from Bowden. He also had six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block.
