The Los Angeles Rams are expected to re-sign defensive end Dante Fowler Jr., according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano. He was acquired in a trade last October.
The Rams acquired his services from the Jacksonville Jaguars for conditional 2019 third-round draft pick and a 2020 fifth-round draft pick. After being acquired, he appeared in eight regular season games with six starts.Embed from Getty Images
Fowler Jr. hasn’t developed into the player that the Jaguars thought he would become with the third overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is just 24-years-old.
With Fowler Jr. potentially re-signing, this would signal the end of Ndamukong Suh’s tenure with the team. The high-priced defensive end signed a one-year deal with the franchise last off-season.
The St. Petersburg, Florida native had 21 tackles, including four tackles for a loss, and five quarterback hits. He also had 2.0 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one pass deflection.
Before being traded to the Rams, he spent his entire football journey in the state of Florida. He played high school and college football, before being drafted by the Jaguars, where he spent two-plus seasons with the team.
With the Jaguars, he appeared in 39 games with one start. He had 62 tackles, including 14 tackles for a loss, and 22 quarterback hits.
