Undefeated Apollos blow out Iron in Alabama

The Orlando Apollo’s defeated the Birmingham Iron on Saturday afternoon. The Apollos won 31-14 over the Iron at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Apollos have improved to 5-0 on the season. Orlando is the lone undefeated team in the Alliance of American Football.

The Iron fell to 3-2 on the season. Birmingham has lost back-to-back games, as they were also defeated by the San Antonio Commanders last weekend.

Apollos quarterback Garrett Gilbert went 23 of 35 for 286 yards. He had two touchdown passes.

De’Veon Smith had 14 carries for 119 yards. Charles Johnson had six receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Iron quarterback Luis Perez began the game before being replaced. Perez went 3 of 7 for 4 yards and an interception.

Keith Price came in and went 18 of 29 for 234 yards. He had one touchdown pass.

Trent Richardson had eight carries for 21 yards and a touchdown. Tobias Palmer had five receptions for 36 yards.

The Apollos outscored the Iron 11-6 in the second half. Gilbert hit Johnson for a 12-yard touchdown reception. Following the score, Gilbert hit Jalin Marshall for the two-point conversion.

Elliott Fry also made a 27 yard field goal.

The Iron got on the board when Price hit Brandon Ross for a 30-yard touchdown reception.

Orlando led 20-8 at halftime. They led the game 17-0 before Birmingham scored.

Gilbert hit Scott Orndoff for a 21-yard touchdown reception. Keith Reaser scored on a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Fry also made two field goals. He first made a 21 yard field. Fry also connected on a 22-yard field goal.

Richardson put the Iron on the board in the first half when he scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown. Price hit Quinton Patton for the two-point conversion.
