The Cleveland Browns are shopping tight end Darren Fells. He completed one-year of a three-year deal.
Fells signed a three-year, $12 million deal with the Browns last off-season. However, he had just 420 snaps on the season.
He is due to make $2.65 million this season. Fells is slated to make $6.3 million over the next two seasons.
The New York Jets have previously had internal discussions about trading for Fells. If the Browns cannot find a taker and he is released, he’ll find a market for his services.
The 32-year-old Fullerton, California native will be playing for his fourth team in his career if he’s dealt, or released then signed with a new team. Besides playing for the Browns, he also played for the Arizona Cardinals and the Detroit Lions.
He spent three of his five seasons with the Cardinals.
This past season, Fells made 16 appearances, including 11 starts. He had 11 receptions for 117 yards and three touchdowns.
The best season of his career came in 2015 with the Cardinals when he had 21 receptions for 311 yards and three touchdowns.
