The Cleveland Browns have made a major trade. It officially cannot officially be traded until Wednesday, March 13th.
The Browns acquired wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in a blockbuster deal. In exchange, the Giants receive a first-round draft pick, third-round draft pick, and safety Jabrill Peppers.
The 26-year-old New Orleans, Louisiana native has been rumored to be traded for quite some time. The Browns finally got the star receiver in a shocking deal.
This deal reunited Beckham Jr. with Jarvis Landry — who was acquired by the Browns last off-season — as the two were college teammates. It also makes quarterback Baker Mayfield a very happy man with two of the best receivers in the game.
The former 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft spent the last five seasons with the Giants.
Beckham Jr. appeared in 12 games, all starts, with the Giants this past season. He had 77 receptions for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns.
He also had five carries for 19 yards.
In his career, he has appeared in 59 games, including 56 starts. He has 390 receptions for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns.
OBJ also had 15 carries for 74 yards.
The 23-year-old East Orange, New Jersey native gets to go home with this deal. He was the Browns 25th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Peppers will be given an opportunity to replace Landon Collins. He is expected to sign with the Washington Redskins once the new league-year starts.
He appeared in 16 games, including 16 starts, with the Browns this past season. He had 79 tackles, including five tackles for a loss, and four quarterback hits.
Peppers also had 1.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and five pass deflections.
