Force claims Top Fuel No. 1 at the 2019 Gatornationals

Advance Auto Parts Top Fuel Dragster pilot Brittany Force is the No. 1 qualifier on Saturday at the 50th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida. This is Force’s first No. 1 qualifier of the season.

Force set a track record with her 3.680 at 326.32 mph pass.

“I’m very proud to put a number on the board like that,” B. Force stated. “We want to go out and win this race [on Sunday]. On that last run, (David) Grubnic pulled me aside and told me it was going to be a fast one and to hang on. This place is a special place to me, and I love racing here. I can’t wait to come back and win here again.”

She will face “The Greek” Chris Karamesines in the first round of eliminations on Sunday.

Scrappers Racing Top Fuel Dragster pilot Mike Salinas – who has Force’s previous team and crew chief Brian Huson – is the No. 2 qualifier. The San Jose, California native went 3.694 at 326.32 mph.

Salinas will face rookie Jordan Vandergriff in the first-round of eliminations.

Reigning Top Fuel Dragster pilot Steve Torrence is the No. 3 qualifier. The Kilgore, Texas native went 3.709 at 329.75 mph in his Capco Contractors dragster.

Torrence will face his employee Dom Lagana in the first-round of eliminations. When Lagana isn’t driving a Top Fuel Dragster, he also works with the Capco team – and serves on Billy Torrence’s crew when he is running a race.

Mopar sponsored Leah Pritchett is the No. 4 qualifier. The Avon, Indiana native went 3.724 at 325.22 mph in her Don Schumacher Racing-owned machine.

Pritchett will face Pat Dakin in the first-round of eliminations.

Matco Tools sponsored Antron Brown is the No. 5 qualifier. The New Jersey native – who now resides in Indiana – went 3.726 at 330.23 mph, also in his Don Schumacher Racing-owned machine.

He will face Richie Crampton in the first-round of eliminations.

The rest of the ladder will look like this:

6.Terry McMillen, 3.743, 327.74 vs. 11. Doug Kalitta, 3.760, 321.35

7. Clay Millican, 3.744, 325.85 vs. 10. Austin Prock, 3.758, 330.15

8. Scott Palmer, 3.750, 326.56 vs. 9. T.J. Zizzo, 3.753, 328.62.

Did Not Qualify:

17. Cameron Ferre, 4.084, 279.79

18. Lex Joon, 5.001, 149.78.
