The Atlanta Braves have signed second baseman Ozzie Albies to an extension on Thursday. He has received a seven-year, $35 million deal.
In his contract, there will be two option seasons. Potentially, this deal could turn into a nine-year deal. If it does go nine-years, it could be worth $45 million.
This is the second time the Braves have signed a young player in this month. Atlanta also signed outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. to an eight-year, $100 million deal.

The 22-year-old Willemstad, Curaçao native has spent the last three seasons with the Braves. This season, through 11 games, he has a .364 batting average with one home run and two RBIs.
He also has three doubles in 16 hits. He has also scored five runs.
Albies has had a six-game hit streak during the 2019 season. He also has been on base for nine games.
On April 9th against the Colorado Rockies, he went 2 for 4 with a double in four at-bats. He also scored a run.
His lone home run came on April 3rd against the Chicago Cubs.

In his career, he has a .272 batting average with 31 home runs and 102 RBIs in 226 games. He also has 52 doubles and 10 triples on 245 hits, while scoring 144 runs.
During the 2018 season, he had a career-best 24 home runs and 72 RBIs in 158 games.
