Pro Stock Motorcycle will be back to the track this weekend in Commerce, Georgia. They will be competing at the Arby’s NHRA Southern Nationals that will be taking place from Friday, March 3rd through Sunday, May 5th at Atlanta Dragway.
Eddie Krawiec defeated Scotty Pollacheck in the final round. Krawiec went 6.922 at 194.91 mph to get the win and the Wally.
In the losing effort, Pollacheck went 6.958 at 193.18 mph.
This was one of four wins for Krawiec on the 2018 season. Besides winning in Atlanta, he also won the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, and the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals.
Krawiec will be there, as will his two Screamin’ Eagle Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson teammates Angelle Sampey and Andrew Hines. At the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Concord, North Carolina last Sunday, Hines picked up his 50th win — the most ever by a Pro Stock Motorcycle rider.
Matt Smith Racing will have their three bikes on the property in reigning Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Matt Smith, his wife Angie Smith, and Scotty Pollacheck. In addition, Kelly Clontz, who Smith tunes her bike, will be there.
Lucas Oil Racing riders Hector Arana and Hector Arana Jr. will be there. Reed Motorsports riders Cory Reed and Joey Gladstone will be present, as well.
Full-timer Steve Johnson will be there with his single-bike team. Ryan Oehler — who advanced to his first PSM final round last weekend — will also be competing near Atlanta.
There will be 17 bikes on the property this weekend. That means one bike will not make the final show on Sunday.
The other bikes, who will be on the property, will include Melissa Surber, Andi Rawlings, James Underdahl, and Karen Stoffer. One weekend ago, Stoffer picked up her first No. 1 qualifier since Atlanta 2015.
Sampey is the active rider with the most wins. She has four career wins at this property.
While she is the active rider with the most wins, she; however, has not won at Atlanta Dragway since 2004. Besides the 2004 win, she also win in 2002, 2000, and 1999.
Dave Schultz is the all-time leader in PSM with wins near Atlanta, Georgia. He has eight wins in 1996, 1995, 1994, 1993, 1992, 1991, 1990, and 1988.
