If the Giants did reach an agreement with one of these teams, Bumgarner would have to approve the deal.
This has happened in the past so it is possible that Bumgarner might go to one of these teams. Justin Verlander had the Astros on his no-trade list and accepted a trade to them after some convincing from the players on the roster.
If he is traded to one of the other teams, who are not on his no-trade list, he would not have to approve it. But he would try to leverage his way to a team he would like to be a part of in the future.
The 29-year-old is in the final year of a five-year, $35 million deal with the Giants. He is making $12 million this season, before becoming a free agent at the conclusion of the season.
He has spent 11 seasons with the Giants. This season, he has a 2-4 record with a 3.99 ERA in eight starts. Bumgarner also has allowed 27 runs (22 earned runs), including seven home runs) on 49 hits in 49 2/3 innings.
Bumgarner also has struck out 51 batter and walked eight.
In his career with the Giants, he has a 112-87 record with a 3.06 ERA in 263 appearances, including 260 starts. He also has one game finished, 15 complete games, and six shutouts.
He has allowed 631 runs (574 earned runs), including 169 home runs on 1,480 hits in 1,688 innings. Bumgarner also struck out 1,642 batters and walked 393.
