The New England Patriots and wide receiver Julian Edelman have agreed to terms on a new deal. It is a two-year deal worth $18 million.
This new deal will likely take Edelman through the end of his career with the team. He is making $12 million in guarantees from this deal.
This deal now runs through the 2021 season. He is also receiving an $8 million signing bonus.
The extension will keep him with the team through his age 35 season. The new deal will start with the 2020 season.
The 32-year-old Redwood City, California native was a seventh-round draft pick by the Patriots in the 2009 NFL Draft. The former Kent State quarterback transitioned from a special teams player to a star wide receiver for the team.
He has spent his entire career with the Patriots. In 2018, he made 12 appearances, including 12 starts. Edelman had 74 receptions for 850 yards and six touchdowns.
He also had nine carries for 107 yards.
In his career, he has made 115 appearances, including 71 starts. He has 499 receptions for 5,390 yards and 30 touchdowns.
He also has 48 carries for 364 yards.
